Wood Ear Fungi - Original Pencil Artwork

 'Wood Ear Fungi' ( Hakeke / Auricularia novozealandica)

This one was an unexpected addition to my fungi series but this wood ear fungi ended up being my personal favourite drawing. These floppy ear-like fungus grow on dead wood in the forest and they're actually edible (if you're hard put!). I happened to photograph these wood ear fungi at Sanctuary Mountain. The light was streaming down on them which made them glow. It was then that I came to appreciate their beauty. 

• This is the one and only original pencil drawing.

• I've added a complementary double-matted border to the drawing so it is ready to frame. All you need to do is pop it into a 12 x 12 inch (or 305mm) size frame. 

• The drawing size is about 21 x 21cm plus the double mat border to make a total size of 305 x 305mm (12 x 12 inches)
