Collection: Original Artworks

This collection features my original, one-of-a-kind coloured pencil artworks, all drawn by hand in my home studio in Te Awamutu, New Zealand.

Each piece begins as a quiet, detailed study of a subject that has caught my attention — often a native bird, animal, or piece of flora. Working in coloured pencil allows me to build layered colour, subtle texture, and fine detail, bringing each subject to life on paper in a way that feels calm, intimate, and true to nature.

No two original artworks are the same. Each carries its own character, making it a unique work to live with and enjoy.

Some original artworks are scanned and digitised by me in my studio, then reproduced as fine art prints using archival inks and papers. Where prints are available, you can explore them in my art prints collection.

Original artworks are sold unframed unless otherwise stated and are carefully packaged to ensure they arrive safely.

About the Original Artworks

Are these original artworks one of a kind?

Yes. Each piece in this collection is an original, hand-drawn artwork. Once an original is sold, it will not be recreated or redrawn in the same way.

What medium are the original artworks created in?

All original artworks are created primarily using coloured pencil on quality archival paper. This medium allows for layered colour, subtle texture, and the fine detail needed to create realistic, true-to-life drawings.

Are prints made from these original artworks?

Many original artworks are reproduced as fine art prints using archival inks and papers. Occasionally, I create one-off original pieces that are not reproduced as prints. Where prints are available, they are clearly noted — and you can view my fine art prints here.

How are original artworks packaged and shipped?

Original artworks are carefully packaged to ensure they arrive safely. I ship throughout New Zealand and to selected international locations, with each piece handled and packed with care.

“I feel so lucky to own a number of Joanne’s original pieces — they’re truly special and I love them.”
